Claire Farrell has been working within Freith CEC School both as part of a wider collaborative primary schools project on Growth Mindsets and more recently in running a series of small nurture groups for identified pupils in school.
We began working with Nurture My Potential alongside a number of schools in the Marlow Liaison group focusing on 'Growth Mindset' and learning. This involved providing teacher training sessions, parent training sessions and teaching assistant training. It also included working in class leading a 6-week Growth Mindset project in our KS1 class, providing further CPD for the class teacher to be disseminated through the school. This 6-week programme was fully resourced and the training notes provided were thorough and easy to use.
AS a result of this project, the ethos of the school began to change rapidly. The resilience levels in pupils who had previously been lacking in confidence began to grow, penguins of perseverance helping to remind them to keep trying and not be put off by mistakes. The staff were inspired by the training and the resources and are more able to support pupils in their learning quests. The parents were impressed with how the Growth Mindset programme could support not just the social and emotional literacy but the academic learning of their children. As a result of this project we have become a fully committed growth Mindset school are looking to fully embed the ethos so brilliantly modelled by Claire throughout the school.
AS a result of the fantastic work produced by Claire within the first project, I asked her to plan and provide some small group programmes for vulnerable pupils in our school. Claire has produced some fantastic 6 week programmes, each one carefully tailored to the needs of the different groups of children. These have been extremely successful and all the pupils have benefitted hugely from their time with Claire has provided them with excellent strategies for calming and understanding their emotions and with kinaesthetic resources to remind them of their learning throughout the week. The pupils who worked with her on their behaviour have noticeably improved and the incidents of them being sent to the headteacher for poor behaviour rapidly diminished after beginning working with Claire.
Claire is a fantastic role model and works in a calm and thoughtful manner with all our pupils. She is having a hugely beneficial impact on the pupils that she works with and therefore on the school as a whole. I would recommend both the projects in the Nurture My Potential programme and Claire Farrell without any hesitation and am extremely grateful for having has to the opportunity to work with her.

We came to Claire because my son was really struggling with exam anxiety. School has been a challenge for him this year and the build up to exams made matters worse.I didn't really know what to do but then a friend recommended Claire. My son had 4 sessions that really helped him.He became much calmer and knew what to do when he felt his anxiety levels rising. The techniques worked for me too! I would recommend Claire to any parent whose child is getting stressed out with exams as she made a big difference to how my son was coping, or not as the case was.

"We found the transition workshops invaluable for our Year 6 children. They are at a very difficult age where they are especially vulnerable and they have a lot of pressures to deal with, between the SATs and transitioning to secondary school. Children really took on board what Claire taught them about their emotions and how to rationalise them. Some of our children were especially anxious about the changes ahead and we saw a real difference in their attitude towards their future, their resilience and this in turn even had an impact on improving behaviour in some cases. Claire was interactive and engaging with the children and they would often comment on how much they enjoyed the sessions each week. I can't recommend these workshops enough. We will be continuing with these transition workshops in future. "

Thankyou Claire we've noticed a real difference in .....'s attitude. He is now much more willing to have a go and doesn't get so disillusioned when he makes mistakes.

Claire has had a huge impact on our son's behaviour. He suffered with anxiety and struggled with many different situations. Claire worked with him explaining his anxiety, helping him to understand what it was and how his body was responding. She showed patience and sensitivity to his feelings, gaining his trust instantly. Her way of explaining things in a fun way really helped my son overcome his problem.
